〈Free Nature〉 processes stock images of people and nature together to present images in which the roles of each are reversed. In photos where people are the subject, nature mostly acts as a background or peripheral decoration for the main character in the photo. However, the human figures appearing in 〈Free Nature〉 are distorted and blurred, filled with images of natural objects surrounding the characters.
The image of a person whose shape has become unclear no longer becomes the center of the photo, and nature, which takes its place, takes the lead in the image. The image of nature replaced in the place where the character was located evokes unfamiliar sensations in a familiar form while simultaneously attempting to recontextualize the relationship between nature and humans.
